Chen Ke

That's a new contemporary artist from the chinese scene.
She's 30, living and working in Beijing.
It's interesting how in his art there's lots of elements of modern chinese culture.
The thin line between reality and imagination, the unsaid and the tollerant.
Alienation and Progress, in her paintings there's a kind of transfiguration of the
human nature, that leave you with eyes closed, keep dreaming.

Rapid economic development, the demise of traditional culture, and our ever frantic way of life are complex issues concerning this transitional period for society. They force the public to look for a safe way out. The illusive sense of intimacy that cartoons evokes perfectly fulfits the emotional emptiness of human beings and becomes an escape for people today.













Questa è tra i nuovi artisti della scena contemporanea cinese.
Ha trent'anni e vive e lavora a Pechino.
E' interessante come nella sua arte ci siano molti elementi della cultura moderna cinese.
La linea sottile tra realtà ed immaginazione, il non-detto ed il tollerabile.
Alienazione e progresso. Nei suoi dipinti c'è una sorta di trasfigurazione della natura umana,
che ti lascia con gli occhi chiusi, continuando a sognare.

Il rapido sviluppo economico, la fine della cultura tradizionale e il nostro modo di vivere molto frenetico sono tematiche complesse che riguardano questo particolare periodo di transizione. Costringono il pubblico a trovare una via d'uscita sicura. L'illusorio senso di intimità, che la cultura dei cartoon evoca, appaga perfettamente il vuoto emotivo degli esseri umani e diventa un'evasione per la gente di oggi.







Chen Ke: "Many European and American Artists might "be great", but you can't feel you can relate to them."

Chen Ke: "Molti artisti Europei ed Americani possono essere considerati "grandi", ma non hai la sensazione di identificarti con loro".


Chen ke is coming from the province of Sichuang (China), where she has studied at the "Sichuan Art Academy".
Chen Ke: "The academic atmosphere in the Sichuan Art Academy is rather liberating. But we had limited resources at the school. There was no existing model to imitate, and so our works often originated from our instincts or emotions. Animation and cartoon images were something I was often exposed to when I was small. Once I began working in a free environment, it came out naturally.



Chen Ke proviene dalla provincia dello Sichuang (Cina), dove ha studiato presso l' "Accademia d'Arte di Sichuang".
Chen ke: "Alla Sichuang Art Academy, l'atmosfera accademica è molto liberatoria. Ma a scuola avevamo risorse limitate. Non esisteva un modello da imitare, così le noste opere nascevano sempre dai nostri istinti e dalle nostre emozioni. L'animazione e le immagini dei cartoon erano cose a cui sono stata spesso esposta sin da bambina. Quando ho iniziato a lavorare in un ambiente libero, questo è emerso naturalmente.
